Soft ground can be determined as a soft soil with low shear strength, highly compressible and low permeability. Generally, soft ground in Malaysia is considered as quaternary sediments consists of coastal alluvial deposits, organic matter or peat soils. Due to the significant proportion of soft ground in this country makes the construction process is unavoidable with the problematic issues arise. In the past, many failures related to high settlement and deformation to structure which resulted from the high compressibility and low shear strength of soft ground. The success of geotechnical works in soft ground relles on several factors; proper planning, analysis, design, construction, control and supervision. This seminar attempts to develop best practices and awareness among those involved in design and the handling the construction phase. Local expert will be of immense value to the participants. The sessions have been formulated to address current situation and find answers to face the challenges ahead.
